As an experienced teacher educator I encourage teachers, both pre-service and in-service as well as graduate students to read current research to inform practice and build personal educational philosophies. This is the first step towards truly thinking and processing the information rather than just repeating it. I use this document, Article Processing, as an introduction to critical reading of professional research articles. I may give a group of students the same article for class discussion OR complete the guide on individual articles for small group sharing of research. My goal is to have the students think about what was read rather than summarizing.
